The facts of the case
Ordinance Nr. 13 of 1889.
are as follows:-
Some time last summer
(about nine months ago) a Turnkey
in the Gaol conveyed to E. L. Hunter Cleck or Accountant in the Chartered Mercantile Bank a letter from
Gray
every
Prisoner
the substance of which was a request to obtain certani
articles of insury
to the
smuggled into the Gave. Junter received the Letter and threatened to report the Officer who thereupon decamped, having however already stated.
that he wished to do a
favour to Gray and that his turn of night - duty at that time would enable him to accomplish it.
On examination of the recordo of the Gave I find that Charlsson was in charge of the Pruiting Office during the months of June

duty and only in that month for a long period of time before and after.
He would thus have hadl
